Advanced Process Control Engineer - Horizon Oil Sands

THE OPPORTUNITY:
• The Advanced Process Control Engineer will help drive Horizon Oil Sands applications systems to Advanced Process Control (APC) systems to maximize efficiency and production performance from the Automation systems.
• Demonstrate the use of superior industry standards by ensuring all applicable standards, best practices, specifications and regulations are met.
• On the recently developed Horizon Oil Sands Plant, you have the opportunity to gain exposure and knowledge through the use of the latest advanced industry technology control systems.
This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary or Fort McMurray
• Company Sponsored Fly In/Fly Out and Camp Accommodation Program with charter flights available from Calgary or Edmonton
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
Coming to this role, you will have the chance to advance your professional career in the following areas:
• Provide continuing support in the area of process control and interfacing with the Distributed Control System (DCS).
• Function as a control expert, consulting with process and operations to identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the assigned upgrading process control areas.
• Contribute to the selection and development of the Advanced Process Control (APC) applications and Real Time Optimization (RTO) applications to create the highest level of production performance.
• Implement and maintain basic, intermediate and advanced level process control strategies.
• Generate ideas for improvement projects, including measurement of benefits and development of project cost/benefit analyses.
• Assist in the simulation, modeling and optimization studies of the units.
• Ensure controls are aligned with plant optimization direction.
• Work closely with end users to train personnel on the effective use of the systems.
