Our client, AMEC has an opportunity has arisen for a Lead Piping Engineer to support the Energy Services Business Unit at our Darlington office. The job function is to ensure that the Project objectives for the Piping Design and Equipment layout department are fulfilled to specified time and cost constraints.

Job specification:
Responsible for the Design and Application of the following:
• Preparation of specifications and calculations for studies and projects and ensure that the specifications are code compliant
• To provide plant layout support
• Check and approve piping designs and detail drawings produced by piping designers
• To ensure that all produced documents and drawings are in accordance with corporate and project procedures.
• To raise purchase requisitions for materials as supplied in take-offs compiled by designers
• Attend project inter-discipline design reviews and studies and ensure that Project objectives are fulfilled and that accurate minutes are recorded
• Lead (or assist the Lead Engineer) the preparation of Project Control reports
• Lead (or assist the Lead Engineer) the multi-discipline co-ordination of the project
• To read, understand and implement the Company Safety Policy and the arrangements described in the Company and area Safety Management System documents
• Prepare and maintain the department CTR listing for each Study and Project
• To prepare and answer technical queries associated with any aspect of work associated with the department

Person Specification:
The successful candidate will be a highly experienced Engineer ideally qualified to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering, but a HNC accompanied with extensive relative experience would also be accepted. You must be fully conversant with engineering design office practices and procedures; have a working knowledge of CAD and preferably PDMS (although not essential), with a background in industrial, oil and gas, process and petrochemical engineering. As Lead Engineer you must be experienced in administering and leading an engineering/design team and ensuring cost effective, timely and consistent production of piping deliverables in accordance with engineering specifications and designs.
