Control Instrument & Automation Specialist


Within our UK Operations Scotland division, we have a vacancy for a Control, Instrumentation & Automation (C, I & A) Technical Specialist. This role would comprise working on any or all of the following project stages:Concept stage design
Front End Engineering Design
Detailed design and/or Review as required
Selection of the contracting delivery partner
Technical support
Commissioning and handover
We are looking to engage the right calibre of C, I & A Technical Specialist to get involved with interesting and challenging projects.
Primary Job Responsibilities
As a C, I & A Technical Specialist you will be working on across the full portfolio of UK Operations Scotland workload. Responsibilities include:
Assist the Project Management team on C, I & A issues
Technical Specialist who shall assist Control and Instrument Group personnel in all aspects of Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design and implementation
Working with Control and Instrument Group team to complete scopes of work within agreed time frames
Liaising with Project Engineering and other design team members
Assisting the program Quality Manager and PM to meet Health and Safety and overall project quality objectives
Ensuring project financial performance within assigned projects
Develop and maintaining excellent relationships with the other discipline leads on the projects
Training and Experience:
Essential:
Extensive experience in the design of Safety Instrumented Systems
Extensive experience in leading the Automation design of small/medium or large projects
Extensive experience in instrumentation and control systems
Experience in all aspects of SIL assessment: Qualitative and Quantitative methods as per IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with client and other project team members
Minimum of a Degree or Honours degree in a Control Systems Engineering related discipline
Candidate must be a Chartered Engineer with a recognised Professional Institution.

Writing and review of Control System and Instrumentation Client standards
