Electrical Design Engineer


Eden Scott’s client based in Central Scotland is well established defence contractor who are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with a Marine or Defence background.This new and exciting opportunity has been created due to continued success of the company and natural growth within their sector.
As part of the Engineering Team your required duties will be to:
• Produce and develop concepts, specifications and engineering solutions to exciting electrical and electronic problems
• Design and develop complete assemblies and systems from start to finish
• Test or witness your own designs
• Interact with users and customers
• Assign tasks to engineers, managers and contractors
• Collate, produce progress and project reports and aid in decision making based upon their results
• Ensure that project related records are complete, accurate and up-to-date
• Produce studies and technical assessments
• In addition you may have to travel to clients and manage, communicate and present project specifics occasionally overseas.
• Working in the workshop or with the Operations team off shore.
Essential attributes for this post:
• Be comfortable working independently on complex and varied problems
• Have a sound knowledge of engineering principles and strong electrical and electronic engineering skills.
• Happy with working in a small team and the additional responsibilities that entails
• At ease dealing directly with customers and contractors
• Comfortable with maintaining and controlling project documentation, costs and procedures
• Focused on delivering to tight deadlines and specifications
• Capable of reacting to changes and willing to go the extra mile to deliver quality products
• Effectively identify and communicate critical tasks and key risks
Ideally, candidates with a subsea, offshore or defence backgrounds would be preferred however not limited to. Experience in design integration of mechanical systems would be desirable. Have a sound knowledge of AutoDESK, Inventor, Solidworks as a must and AutoCAD, MathCAD. Also, candidates with experience of using E3 Electromechanical design software tool would be desirable.
